SSDL 8-Week Wellness Challenge

Steve Hall

Dear Dolphin Swim Parents,

We’re excited for our athletes to join the 8-week wellness challenge starting this Monday, September 30th! This is a great opportunity to boost our swimmers' energy, mood, recovery, effort level, and performance through a wellness focus. To participate, athletes need to fill out the “Dolphin Wellness Questionnaire” each day. This will count as them both "signing up" to start, as well as participating in the challenge for the day. The team with the highest percentage of consistent participants will win a prize from SSDL (to be determined). Daily completion of the WQ is crucial for tracking for our athletes. Here is the Dolphins our WQ link.

SSDL 8-Week Wellness Challenge

The SSDL 8-Week Wellness Challenge is designed to help swimmers appreciate the significance of proper nutrition, hydration, and recovery. Our goal is to raise awareness about what we fuel our bodies with and to foster healthy habits. We hope that all Dolphin families will benefit from the resources provided by SSDL.

This 8-Week Wellness Challenge is intended to be both enjoyable and educational for our swim families. Participation is not mandatory and should not feel like a burden. We do ask that all Senior training groups take part, while we encourage Age Group training groups to review the information as their schedules allow. We would be thrilled to see them participate alongside the Senior groups in this challenge.

We do not expect Developmental swimmers to engage in the questionnaire portion; however, we hope all swim families will review the information on hydration and, if applicable, the nutritional aspects provided. As always, we recommend consulting your family’s healthcare professional before starting any exercise or nutritional program.

Key Points:

  • If your athlete misses a WQ submission, it's like not completing that day’s challenge habit.
  • There will be a new habit will be added every two weeks, stacking upon previous ones.
  • We have attached the resources for success, focusing on hydration (Page 3 of Supplement Suggestions) and fast carbs (left side of Swimmer’s Guide).

All athletes should have an accountability partner and may use the HabitShare app to track their progress. Please click here for download instructions and additional information about the HabitShare App. Our hope is that this challenge helps them build lasting habits that enhance their swim careers and prepares them for the winter championship season.
